PwC’s representatives, Obioma Ubah, Delia Asuzu & Okemute Olatunji-Albert were at our office last week to make the donation on behalf of their colleagues. We, of course, were gladly on hand to accept the cheque.
Speaking at the presentation of the cheque, Ms Ubah, Partner at the professional services firm, said the partners and staff decided to make the donation for Benue Flood Victims after they saw the scale of damage floods in the last week of August had wrought in Benue.
Sesor’s Executive Director, Ier Jonathan-Ichaver, thanked the PwC team for their donation, stating that the funds would be used to support victims in as yet unreached rural communities outside the Makurdi metropolis that were also affected by the floods. A report will be made to PwC on the use of the funds.
Many communities in Benue State were flooded late August following heavy rains., leaving 110,000 people displaced and over 24 communities flooded. There is extensive damage and relief materials are yet to reach some communities outside the Makurdi metropolis.
Sesor and its partners continue to visit such affected communities, deliver relief materials and begin to assess medium to longer term measures for preventing future catastrophes.
