Sesor and the Benue We Deserve Foundation (BenDeF), congratulate our partner Amb. David Adjarho Obaro, also known as World Wrapper Man, for the successful completion of his 40-day Lagos-to-Benue Charity Ultra-marathon. The ultra-marathon was completed on Saturday November 25 in Makurdi. Upon his arrival in Makurdi, he was warmly received by the Commissioner of Water Resources & Environment, Engr. Dr. Terlumun Utsev; representatives from Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Sesor and BenDeF. The Benue people also turned out in colourful attire to welcome him to the Food Basket capital.

As part of activities to mark the completion of the ultra-marathon and this phase of our partnership, Sesor, BenDeF and World Wrapper Man visited two communities on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. The two communities, Kighir and Achusa, were among those flooded in August 2017 where approximately 800 households (452 in Kighir and 348 in Achusa) were affected.

During the visit, BenDeF and Sesor donated relief items of food, clothes, shoes, bags, mosquito nets and protective footwear valued at over N550,000.00 (Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only). This visit was also supported by Sesor partners, staff of Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Thandos Shoes Limited.

The Charity Ultra-marathon of about 900 km, raised One Million steps that will be sold for One US Dollar (USD 1) or Three Hundred and Sixty Naira (NGN360) per step. The money realized will be used to economically empower as many as possible as those affected by the floods. So far, steps to the tune of N14,000 (Fourteen Thousand Naira) have been bought through Sesor’s dedicated account for the ultra-marathon. Sesor will continue accepting donations for the ultra-marathon until 31 December 2017. The funds raised will be utilized for empowerment interventions for some affected flood victims. Donations and steps can be bought through Sesor FCMB Account 3758767024.
